Touring - 2007 Honda Goldwing GL1800

Welcome to my site. Folks have been asking about my camera gear, mounts, Software and what is involved in putting all of this together. So here it goes... The first section and slide show contains pictures of my 2007 Goldwing with most of my video gear mounted. The second section contains information and a slide show of my street fighter 2008 Suzuki B-King. Video cameras are JVC Mini DV models that capture in 16:9 format. They are mounted using RAM mounts. As I ride I cycle the camera on and off capturing segments of the ride. I usually go through a couple batteries a day and shoot maybe 45 minutes to an hour of video.  I film using one or two cameras. If I use 2 cameras its to capture from two angles. One forward and the other backwards and to the left side. Still photography is captured with my Sony DSLR a100 and a Cannon Elf. This requires frequent stops for photo's. At the end of a ride I disappear into my media room where I transfer video footage and pictures to my laptop. I try to do this the day of the ride. Once I have the media local to my laptop I use Pinnacle Studio Pro to merge the stills, video and music together. I then drop transitions affects and video affects where needed and the video is then compiled and written to file. The process takes about an hour to complete. After I have the video finished I create the Flash picture show and the trip log. The entire process takes about 3 hours per day ride or day. Multiple days on the road will require many more hours of work. So far I have ridden this Wing 19,069 miles. The ride statistics above represent only rides that I have logged in my trip logs and are displayed on this web site. After all these miles I still believe this wing is the best bike to meet my riding needs.

This bike took me almost 11,100 miles in 11 months! The miles ridden were extremely comfortable and averaged 238 miles per day ride. The highest in one day was 390 miles. A big thanks to Rich's Custom Seats in Seattle.

Honda VTX 1800N

I put allot of money into this VTX to get everything just the way I wanted it. It had a massive amount of torque and speed to boot. 2 windshields heights or none. Saddle bags that were quickly removable. Hyper charger, Vance & Hines Big Shots Exhaust, Power Commander III. After all the bolt on upgrades it was professionally dyno tuned through the RPM range. After riding for 300 miles I found this type of bike to be too noisy and too windy. Although I do miss this bike, it's why I chose the ST1300. 

CBR 1000R

I have to say, This was one of my favorite machines! This CBR1000R was a very comfortable sport bike to ride. In fact, the riding position was more like the ST1300. Note the handle bars are positioned well above the seat. Sport bikes now days tend to position your upper body in an aggressive lean into the bars. I wish I new about Rich's seats back then because the seat on this bike was the only draw back. Come to think about it, the luggage would have been a nice bonus.
